Meet the Maker
Hello and Welcome along my adventure.
My name is Colt, the main guy behind Colty Stitched. My creative crochet journey began in 2016, literally the day after thanksgiving. My inspirational designing journey began in March 2017, where I designed and published my first own creations, a beanie and cowl.
Being able to share my creations, is truly inspirational treasure of mine. I have always had a artistic side from a young age. I have dabbled in poetry, drawing, painting, song writing, but nothing stuck, like that with playing with yarn. It has stuck and can't get enough of it. I have gone learning the basic to advanced stitches and then teaching myself the joy of reading patterns. Now, I am just hooked on this amazing fiber trail.
Every day, I am still learning and teaching myself new skills and techniques. I enjoy sharing what I have learned, to bring different creations to life, that can be passed down and treasured for many years. Being able to say I created or made that, brings a huge smile from cheek to cheek, which makes me feel proud and honored. Also, seeing my creations come to life by other hands, is literally the most satisfying and rewarding portion of why crochet is a huge part of my world.
Some people know me by creating pieces with those simple and rustic stitches, eye popping textures, bobbing for bobbles and puffy puffs to bring you comfy and cozy pieces, to bring you all the cuddles and warmth. For a piece to go with any outfit and for all your adventures you are to embark upon.
For the longest time, when this amazing journey started, I enjoyed creating and designing beanies and cowls/scarves; started to venture into blankets, home decor items, amigurumi (stuffed animals), now working more towards garments. Each piece is created with lots of love, inspiration and carefully thought through, down to very stitch creating their mark. We have great and wonderful things are taking place and, in the works, so keep following along this journey with me to see what will be coming.
In, 2019, I have started reaching out and working with some amazing Yarn Companies. I have worked with furlscrochet.com, hobbiiyarn.com, crochetfoundry.com, and crochet.com; where I have used their products to create stunning and unique one-of-a-kind pieces of art, that have not been published anywhere yet on the innerwebs. Still, love these beautiful creations to this date. In 2022, Lee Sartori, reached out to and asked me an opportunity of a lifetime, to be featured in her book "Friends: The One with the Crochet: The Official Crochet Pattern Book" as a sample crocheter for helping bringing Rachel Blanket, to life. These each and grateful opportunities, are literally why I keep creating and sharing my love for this amazing art, there are many more coming in the works, that I am really excited about.
Over the years since I started my crocheting journey, I have had the opportunity of testing out other designers' designs. Where, I make their design, while I am looking for errors and making sure it's ready to be published for the world. The have taught me skills that I didn't even know existed, while still inspiring me just as much.
There is so much more to come and happening for Colty Stitched, that I can't wait to share. I hope you will stay and keep exploring on my crazy crochet venture, I promise you won't be disappointed at all. We will keep skipping and trekking on this trail together. We will be yarny besties for a lifetime.
